Kate Wilson

FIRE AND WATER

“Kate Wilson’s work is a kind of visual diary, a repository for whatever is engaging or troubling her.  What is remarkable is that these preoccupations resonate so strongly for us; perhaps because she is drawn to subjects which carry an unconscious charge.  We do not need to be told that water refers to our subconscious drives and fears; we only have to look at ‘Restless Water’ to feel strangely shaken up and excited. It is as though the tidal rips and undertows of our inner lives were suddenly exposed and given specific visual form.”
